Chemicals industry
The requirements in the chemicals industry are in the applications and environments, such as low-temperature applications, environments with high temperatures and those that are highly corrosive, high-pressure applications and those in which the guarantee of a very high level of cleanliness of the final products is essential.
New chemical processes, legal requirements and expensive raw materials and energy all combine to increase the demands on process parameters continually. In many cases, increasing operating temperatures and pressures make it necessary to create environments made of high-alloy materials.
High-alloy materials, including nickel alloys, titanium and zirconium, protect production equipment against corrosion while maintaining investments and operating costs at a reasonable level.
In flue gas cleaning, in incineration and flue gas desulphurisation plants, dampers and double shut-off dampers are made of metallic materials that permit their use in temperatures up to 1000 °C.
